Once upon a time, there was a unicorn named Sugar Plum. She lived on the edge of the Everfree Forrest with her mother and father. Though the family loved each other very much, they were very poor, and sometimes they had to struggle to make ends meet. One winter, Sugar Plum's little sister, Plum Pudding, took sick, and could not move from her bed. They could not afford a doctor, and so they were afraid the filly would die without ever seeing spring.

Sugar Plum though, was determined not to watch her sister perish. She knew of an herbal remedy which could be gathered from rare plants. But it was the dead of winter, and it would be very difficult to find any at all. Still, Sugar Plum set out into the forest. She wandered for days, narrowly avoiding the dangers of the deep woods, digging for the roots in the cold ground till her hoofs cracked. She was tired, cold, and hurt. But still she would not give up.

On the 6th day of her search, as the morning sun shone in her eyes, Sugar Plum saw a strange fluttering through the tree branches. At first she held back, afraid it was some fell beast. But as she softly drew closer, she began to see more and more of them flutter past. Bravely, Sugar Plum came closer.

To her surprise, these were not horrible creatures, but little winged fillies, no bigger than her hoof! They danced in the forest glade, played in the snow, and flitted back and forth through the falling snow. Sugar Plum was thrilled! She knew the stories of the pixie ponies and how they would sometimes help those who could befriend them. Perhaps they could help her locate the plants and roots she needed to save Plum Pudding!

Suddenly, the pixie ponies started, scattering into the high trees and hiding themselves in the brush. Sugar Plum gasped and hid as well when she saw what came prowling into the glade. It was a Timberwolf, separated from it's pack, looking for food. Given half a chance, it would likely eat a pixie...or regular pony for that matter.

Sugar Plum started to sneak away, only to hear a growl and see a shadow looming over her. She turned to see the Timberwolf, ready to pounce and devour her!

The creature charges and Sugar Plum fired her magic at the beast, creating a bright flash which blinded it momentarily. She rushed through the glade, looking for an escape route, when she spied a pixie pony, it's leg stuck in a tree hole, just within reach of the wolf.

The beast came over the hedge, growling and snarling at them all. For one moment, Sugar Plum was terrified! But she couldn't run and leave the little fae to die! She snorted, bowed her head, and pointed her horn at the timberwolf. It charged again, and Sugar Plum fired another bolt, pushing the snow into a giant ball and slamming it into the animal. It knocked him back against a tree, dizzying him. Again he opened his mouth and came to devour them. And again Sugar Plum used her magic to thwart him.

The timberwolf, given too much trouble for a meal, howled and stalked off, leaving Sugar Plum alone with the pixies.

Grateful for her help, the pixies listened to Sugar Plums tale and agreed to help her find the plants she needed to save her sister. And, as a thank you for saving their friend, they gave Sugar Plum the knowledge of the portal to the realm of the Pixies Ponies, so that she could visit them whenever she chose.

To this day, Sugar Plums tale of bravery, kindness and determination as lived as a memory to all ponies about overcoming adversity.
